Too much work!

So yes, the new job has pretty much taken over my life. But the good thing is, because the work is based in the city, I’m only minutes walk away from 3 Fitness First gyms! And I’m having such a blast choosing the classes and which gym to go to since there’s so many! Totally beats having just 1 gym and going to classes I’m really not keen on going. So happy!

Thursday (last week)

1 hour Attack class at Bond Street – as usual, the friggin Superman moves hurt the most. Dammmmmmit! Met up with homegirl Chaia too for some birthday drinks and great conversation with some couch surfing people.

Had a quiet time during the weekend, and back to gym again on Monday!

Monday

45 minutes Attack class in Park Street – the way the studio was set up was a bit weird, because the monorail tracks were just there right outside the windows. I’m just not sure if people can see us, but maaaan… if you’re doing the “ladder” run and you’re unsure if someone can see your arse from the window, wouldn’t you be conscious? HAHAHA! It’s all fun though woohoo!

Tuesday

1 hour Pump class in Bond Street – first time I did the new release Pump and although there weren’t alot of changes, I just really hate the biceps track. Biceps are the bane of my Pump existence, I tell you! Haha!

Hopefully I’ll be able to go to the A

New Release Attack

Well well well… talk about massive power peaks!! MAAAASSIIIIVVEE! Although I must admit, I’m a bit glad there’s only a handful of lunges (compared to THAT track in the previous release with the 32 lunges oh em gee!!).

Favourites: power peaks, of course! Superman track with shuffles and jacks (yeouch!), ice skater power peak, even the agility track with the new agility run was fun!, interval track (always, always a favourite), and the last track that combined everything (6 jacks, shuffle left/right, 6 jacks x 4, and then do all that x 4? Bring it on!!!).

I wasn’t really that sore, but I really enjoyed the class. I’d normally be huffing and puffing and whole body’s sore after a class that sometimes I forget to enjoy Attack. But not this release… no no! Plus the music! Love Track 2 “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”, stretch track Chris Brown’s “With You” (my favourite!!!), and of course, PARTY PEOPLEEEE made especially for Attack! Us Attackers are really special moowahaha!

Can’t wait to do the Attack class again tomorrow. Might go to Bond Street after work to catch the 5.30pm Attack class.

New Job, Old Routine

I started a new job today. I’m both excited and scared at the same time, but it’s all still exciting (until office stress comes!). Anyway, I was happy to leave work a little bit early today because that meant going to Body Step. And it’s launch week so new moves, new songs, new everything!

Monday

45 minutes Body Combat – new release!!! YEAHHH!!!!! For those who hasn’t done the new release, I have two things to say: 276 KNEE STRIKES AND KICKS, and track 6’s Capoeria esciva moves!!! LAVLEEEEEE!!

The instructor warned us that we’ll have sore lower body muscles the next day, but I feel pretty good. No soreness, no pain… hahaha all good!

Tuesday

45 minutes Body Step – Yup… I get to do Body Step like, once a month because the class starts too early, but today I did it! And I always love the music. My legs were burning during the Power Peak track (new move: the Nutcracker, which really looks like a jump knee to me with arms) but I love love LOVE the last track with all the combos: knee repeats, single squats, double squats, the works!

I just hope I can still make it to Attack tomorrow. I’m excited for the new release!!!!!!!!! AAAHHHHH! I was reading the comments for the new release moves and apparently lots of agility training. Not a fan of agility, but will take it anytime instead of Superman moves. I love Super but my left calf just can’t hold it!!!

Tomorrow… tomorrow!

Thursday’s Attack

I enjoyed the Attack class tonight, because the instructor was really animated haha! He’s name’s Simon and he’s gay and I think I’m inlove. Haha I love gay instructors! But it’s not that I don’t like the females too… my favourite is Ingrid and Sue! Hahaha!

Thursday

30 minutes crosstrainer – yup, not threadmill, because my left calf is still aching. I’ve really gotten used to it but it’s just annoying and I can do without it. Oh when is it gonna go?!?!?!??!

1 hour Body Attack – I had to do the low impact during the interval track because my leg ankle starting acting up again. BUT… I swear I gave it my all in the last “We Will Rock You” peak track woohoo!!

Attack & Pump

My left calf pain is still persistent after I did the Attack class last night. However, I managed to stay the whole class, and even do the harder moves (not the low impact ones). I’ve been annoyingly putting anti-inflammatory creams on the area just to be sure, but in the middle of the night last night while asleep it started hurting again… it’s weird. Meh. I’ll try my luck with Attack again tomorrow. I’m slowly getting used to the pain. Ok I know it’s not healthy and I should give it a rest for a few days… which I’m intending to do next week once I start a new job. I’m sure I’ll have less time exercising and more time settling in my new work.

Tuesday

1 hour Body Attack

Wednesday

45 minutes Body Pump – I kept with my usual weights. It felt harder since I haven’t done Pump in 2 weeks but I managed to get through the class. I soooo wanted to stay for Attack but my sister wanted to go home (apparently, to study, but I’m thinking she didn’t want to do double classes hahaha). Oh well, more Attacking tomorrow!

I’m hooked on my “Gym Playlist” hahaha! I’ve been listening to it the whole day. It just keeps me pumped up before attending the classes.

My favourites are “Show Me Heaven”, “What Hurts the Most”, “On the Way to the Disco”, and for stretching and cool down,  “Do You Know”. I have to look for previous releases for the other songs hehe!

Exccccuusee

… the dodgy image above. I’m in the middle of creating a nice, Les Mills themed image header but alas, it’s 4.30pm and I have to prepare for Pump at 5. So, tootles for now! Be back later!

You Know You’re A Pumper When…

  • Every other song you hear in the grocery store makes you look around for a bar
  • The people in the next car next to you at a stop light wonder why you are doing bicep curls
  • Your entire wardrobe is red and black
  • You avoid ANYTHING that will interfere with your classes
  • You get up at 4:45AM to go lift weights!
  • Most of your friends are body pumpers
  • You pick up a box with a three and one rhythm
  • You keep your elbows in when scratching your nose
  • You stand in line with your knees slightly bent
  • You look forward to using the porta-potties at the state fair
  • You judge every person you see by what BP could do for them
  • Your bed is up on 2 risers
  • You open your own pickle jars, thank you very much!
  • You carry all the groceries in from your car in one trip
  • You have more workout outfits than work clothes
  • Your kids are astounded that you know so much about their music
  • You’ve got a little extra cash and buy a new BP top when you really don’t need to!
  • You’re in a nightclub, the DJ plays ‘Flaunt It’… and you automatically start tapping your foot, chest proud, shoulders back, lock your elbows in and curl up that air bar suuuper slow!
  • You’re at the Pink concert listening to Who Knew and instead of swaying and bouncing with the crowd, you suddenly realise you are halfway through a mental tricep track and about to hit the floor for dips!
  • Your non gym junkie fiance gives you ‘the look’ when you keep saying ‘hey this is our chest track!’ etc
  • Your first trip to Hawaii includes a trip to Gold’s Gym for BODYPUMP!
  • You change all lyrics to say something about Bodypump
  • You counting how many people who have forward head posture at the supermarket!
  • You make sure your knees are above your toes when sitting on the toilet.
  • You have a pet named Les Mills
  • You sit on the toilet, you check that your knees don’t go beyond your toe line
  • You pass a construction site you start yelling things like: watch your back when lifting that steel post!!!
  • You hit the dance floor at a club, you move every major muscle group to properly warm up
  • Degrees has nothing to do with the temperature but everything to do with with angles of knees, hips and toes
  • You automatically calculate weight totals when you set out the dinner plates
  • You know twenty ways to cue 2 x 2
  • You do quick spinal rotations at random intervals throughout the day
  • The traditional weight-lifting wisdom of 3 sets of 12 repetitions simply isn’t satisfying enough
  • You can’t lift weights without music
  • You feel an urge to do a lunge while walking down the road
  • You like to stand using a split stance for better stability
  • You hand out free BP class passes to the unconverted masses

[Edit] *I should add that I got this from the Les Mills Facebook page, which I’m a member of. Hahaha talk about Les Mills groupie!!! Next time I get a pet, I’ll definitely name him/her/it Les or Millsy or something like that. >.< [/Edit]

Hahaha I can relate man! I can totally relate (especially the going to the toilet, squatting and making sure the knees do not go beyond the toe line hahaha!).

Attack tonight! Let’s hope my leg calf holds up!

Combat

So I went to Body Combat tonight for the first time in weeks. 3, 4 weeks? I wanted to go to the Attack class in another FF location but I had to go to the city afterwards for a dinner meeting so Combat it was!

My L calf started hurting again halfway through the class. Arghhhh! When will this injury go away?!?!?! I want to give my 100% in Attack class again!!! At the moment I feel like an imp! I feel weak!

It’s just so frustrating, that’s all.

In other news, I have a playlist of all the songs in Body Attack 60, 61, and Pump 66 in my ipod. Haha I love it! Everytime the “Show Me Heaven” song comes up I feel like doing a clean and press, and when the “disco disco energy! disco disco energy!” song comes up I want to do lunges.

I’m looking for the Balance songs I can’t find it. The current release has some really good songs. I just hope the new release (I think coming in 2 weeks’ time???) will have really great songs!

Off gym

Because of my sprained calf, the doctor told me to steer clear of gym for the next week or so. She also told me off for going back to Attack too soon after the marathon. Hehe.

It’s been hurting intermitently for the past couple of days, but I think it’s more to do with the carpeted floors in FF Deakin than with to much exercise – I went to Attack in FF Civic where it’s wooden floors and I was fine. They should really change the flooring in the aerobics room in Deakin. My sister injured her shin too.

So, my plans of going to Attack tomorrow morning are out the window. I guess I can still do Pump, minus the sqats and lunges.

Bugger. Just when I’ve gotten into a very comfortable, very productive routine!

Attacks Again

Sunday – Marathon

Monday – rest day (could barely walk!)

Tuesday – 1 hour Attack

Wednesday – 40 mins Attack. Why only 40 minutes, you ask? Well, here’s why:

Maybe I haven’t recovered enough from the marathon before going back to gym, but tonight I just gave myself my first injury. Went to Attack again, hoping that my shin pain is well and truly gone… only to be replaced by an even worse ankle injury. It started throbbing after the aerobics track, and worsen after the lunges. I thought it was going to be ok after the push ups track, but got worse in the agility. The final straw was the interval track, when I nearly trip while doing the jacks. I had to leave 3/4 through the class. Just as I was already warmed up and enjoying the class, this stupid, STUPID leg had to act up. I’m really annoyed. But, I don’t want to risk injuring myself any further – so I just left the class. I limped my way to the lockers, got changed, and went to the chemist to get some Voltaren gel. It hurts more when I put pressure on the foot……. it was really bad, throbbing, stabbing pain. Good thing it’s a little bit gone now, and I can walk a little bit better. Maybe I should skip gym tomorrow and just give the leg a rest…. besides, there’s still Saturday’s Attack.

I’m actually making myself very, very proud lately. Consecutive Attack classes, jogging 12 out of 14kms of the marathon, and then going back to Attack again? Personal best, mate! But… I have to give it a rest tomorrow. It’s still throbbing a bit but I really don’t want to injure myself anymore. Oh haiiiiiiii.
